Park Farm Campsite, Robertsbridge

Park Farm Campsite is one of our favourites, we love this campsite!

We were one adult and two children in the camper for three days with electric hook up. We also took   the awning which is useful if you are in one place for some time and it is raining.

Bodiam castle is a short walk ( about 25 minutes) along the river bank . There is only one road to cross, but it is quite a fast road, so watch out if you have small children or a dog off the lead.   There  is a pub called the Castle at Bodiam which is next to the river, this  is very friendly  and serves great food. At the time they had brought a TV into the bar so we were able to see the Olympic shooting final.

My children have previously been to Bodiam Castle which looks fantastic as you approach it,  but they were disappointed  to find it is a ruin inside (although there are some cool bats).  The gift shops serves a purpose however as it sells ice creams as well as souvenirs and we also bought some lovely fudge and some soap as we had left our shower gel in the washing block the day before .

Our (then) 9 year old spent all day on the fantastic adventure playground equipment – which has been greatly added to since we last visited.  There is a zip slide and also an area of play equipment sheltered by an old barn it if rains.    There are also some great rope swings over the river at several places.   The shower block has unlimited hot showers and the washing up area is lovely and clean.

A big attraction for us is the open fires, which are allowed on the site. There is a man who comes around and sells bags of wood, so look out for him from about 4pm.   Many sites do not allow open fires, but they do really add to the experience of camping.   Remember to bring some marshmallows!

The site is on a river and the owner tells me that they have the fishing rights all the way down to Bodiam, so the fishing is free. My son (aged 14) took a rod and spent all the time down by the river and caught some huge chubb and some other smaller fish. He had not brought any maggots, but he caught them with cheese.
